Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss topics such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
